One of his most notable findings was the discovery of the magnetic effect of telluric currents, which he demonstrated through the famous "Arago's pendulum" experiment. Arago's work in astronomy was also noteworthy. He discovered several celestial bodies, including the asteroid Vesta and the moons of Mars, Deimos and Phobos.
