This iconic photograph captures the moment of triumph for Rangers Football Club in the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup against Sporting Lisbon in 1972. The image focuses on the pivotal figure of Steven Davis, who scored both goals in the historic 0-2 victory. Steven Davis, a Scottish international and Rangers midfielder, is seen here in full flight, leaping through the air to head the ball past the hapless Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper. The Portuguese team, known for their technical prowess and attacking flair, were no match for the determination and grit of the Scottish side that night. The atmosphere in the Ibrox Stadium was electric as the underdogs took on the European giants. The crowd, clad in blue and white scarves and shirts, roared their support for their team, creating an electrifying cauldron of noise and excitement. The first half of the game saw few chances for either side, but in the second half, Rangers came alive. Davis, a key player in the midfield, took center stage with his two stunning goals.
