The image, taken by renowned Scottish photographer Lynne Cameron, encapsulates the excitement and tension of European nights at Ibrox Stadium. Smith, who led Rangers to five league titles and three Scottish Cups during his tenure, had built a formidable team that included the likes of John Greig, Davie Cooper, and Jim Forrest. The team's journey in the European Cup Winners' Cup had already seen them overcome Swedish side Malmö FF and Belgian club Anderlecht, setting the stage for a thrilling encounter against the Portuguese powerhouse Sporting Lisbon.
