Precious objects brought from the Emperor of Chinas Summer Palace, near Pekin, displayed at the Chinese Exhibition at Crystal Palace in 1865. These objects were taken by Captain De Negroni, an officer in the French Army, when the palace was burnt and plundered in September 1860. Amongst the treasures pictured is a birdcage clock, an ivory junk or sailing ship and a sardonyx grotto with two monkeys. Date: 1865
