The atmosphere at Ibrox Stadium was electric as Rangers looked to extend their lead at the top of the table. Boyd, a prolific goalscorer, was instrumental in the team's attack, and this match was no exception. In the 26th minute, Boyd received a pass from teammate Lee McCulloch, and with a swift turn and a powerful strike, he put Rangers ahead.
