Coronation Chair
The Coronation Chair, also known as King Edwards Chair, in Westminster Abbey, London, shortly before the coronation of King George V. It was commissioned in 1301 by King Edward I to contain the coronation stone of Scotland, known as the Stone of Scone, which he captured from the Scots. The chair was named after Englands only canonised king, Edward the Confessor. It was carved from oak -- the four gilded lions at its feet are later additions. Date: 1937
