EDITORS COMMENTS
In this electrifying moment captured at Hampden Park during the Scottish Cup Semi-Final between Rangers and Motherwell in season 10-11, the tension between the two teams reached a boiling point. With the score standing at 2-1 in favor of Rangers, Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss (right) found himself on the receiving end of a rough challenge from Motherwell's Steve Jones (left). As Weiss dribbled the ball towards Motherwell's penalty area, Jones came in with a crunching tackle, catching Weiss high on the leg. The impact sent Weiss tumbling to the ground in pain, with Motherwell players and fans protesting the decision, while Rangers supporters roared their approval. Referee Calum Murray had no hesitation in brandishing a yellow card to Jones, much to the frustration of the Motherwell bench and fans. Weiss, who had been a thorn in Motherwell's side throughout the match with his skill and creativity, was able to recover and continue playing, much to the relief of Rangers manager Ally McCoist and the Ibrox faithful. This pivotal moment in the match highlighted the fierce rivalry between these two Scottish football giants and the intensity of the Scottish Cup competition. Despite the challenges and hardships faced on the pitch, Weiss and his Rangers teammates were able to emerge victorious, securing their place in the Scottish Cup Final and continuing their quest for silverware. This photograph, taken by renowned Scottish football photographer Kirk O'Rourke, captures the raw emotion and passion of the game, making it a prized addition to any Rangers Football Club collection.
