EDITORS COMMENTS
In a Combined Operation on the night of February 27th and 28th, 1942, an extraordinary display of joint forces from the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force unfolded. Their target: a crucial German radio location post at Bruneval on the North Coast of France. Situated twelve miles north of Havre, this strategic outpost posed a significant threat to Allied operations. Parachute troops belonging to an airborne division were dropped by RAF bombers in a daring maneuver that caught the enemy off guard. As they advanced towards their objective, infantry units provided vital support during the latter stages of this audacious mission. The attached print captures a pivotal moment in history as it showcases both the victorious attackers and captured German prisoners returning to Britain under the watchful eye of the Royal Navy. The image depicts two landing craft navigating through treacherous waters during their journey back after successfully completing their raid on February 28th, 1942. This powerful visual encapsulates not only the immense bravery displayed by these combined forces but also highlights their unwavering commitment to securing victory during World War II. It serves as a testament to those who fought selflessly for freedom and reminds us all of our shared history.
