Cuthbert Bede (1827-1889) was an English author and Anglican clergyman. He wrote under the pseudonym "B. Artists Arts" and is best known for his humorous novel The Adventures of Mr. Verdant Green, which was published in three volumes between 1853 and 1855. His other works include a collection of essays titled Eccentricities of the Animal Creation (1859), a biography of John Wesley titled Life and Times of the Rev. John Wesley, M.A., Founder of the Methodist Societies (1872), and several novels including A Blighted Being (1860) and The Adventures of Johnny Newcome in the Navy (1863). Bede's writing style is characterized by its wit, satire, irony, lightheartedness, and moral lessons about Victorian society.
