This hauntingly beautiful print captures the tragic scene of the capsizing of HMS Eurydice, just opposite Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, on March 24th, 1878. The Victorian era was a time of great naval exploration and innovation, but it was also a time when disasters at sea were all too common.
