Born on October 4, 1848, Weatherly pursued a successful career in law, becoming a King's Counsel (KC) in 1894. However, his passion for music and poetry led him to write lyrics for over 1,000 songs, many of which were set to popular tunes and became beloved classics. Weatherly's image here, taken in 1895, shows him in the full regalia of a barrister, including the traditional wig and gown. The stern expression on his face conveys the seriousness and authority that came with his legal profession.
