Showyards of the Royal Agricultural Society of England at Plymouth, 1865. General view. 'On Wednesday forenoon their Royal Highnesses [future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra] paid a visit to the exhibition of the Agricultural Society at Pennycomequick, a well-known meadow adjoining the town of Devonport...It looked from the outside like a fair, being crowded with booths devoted to various popular exhibitions; such as Wombwell's menagerie, an equestrian circus, a shooting-gallery, and sundry peep-shows. The Prince and Princess confined their attention to the horses and cattle'. From "Illustrated London News", 1865
