EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the intricate decoration found in Stora Rada Old Church, located in Vastra Gotaland, Sweden. Dating back to 1928, this image captures a glimpse of the church's rich history that dates all the way to the 13th century. The photograph focuses on a painting on the northern choir wall of Amnehaerads Rada wooden church. The horizontally-placed beams display an array of religious scenes and figures. Above are prophets, while apostles occupy the middle section. Below them are beautifully depicted scenes from the life of Mary. Despite its age, this stunning artwork has managed to survive through centuries until tragedy struck in 2001 when a fire consumed the church entirely. It was published by Ernst Wasmuth Ltd. , Berlin in 1928. This image offers us a glimpse into both past and present – reminding us of the enduring power and beauty found within religious art and architecture throughout history.
