William Howard Taft was the 27th President of the United States, serving from 1909 to 1913. Known for his large stature and jovial personality, Taft was the only person in history to serve as both President and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Despite facing criticism for some of his policies, Taft is remembered for his dedication to promoting peace and diplomacy in international relations. Taft's presidency was marked by a focus on trust-busting and progressive reforms, including the establishment of the Department of Labor and support for workers' rights. He also played a key role in expanding America's influence abroad through initiatives like Dollar Diplomacy. After leaving office, Taft went on to become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, where he continued to champion judicial reform and uphold constitutional principles. His legacy as a statesman and jurist remains influential today. In addition to his political achievements, Taft was also known for his love of food - particularly desserts. He even had a custom-made bathtub installed in the White House that could accommodate his sizeable frame.
