"Crawley, West Sussex: A Journey Through Time and Music" Step back in time to June 1, 1790, as we embark on an excursion to Brighthelmstone. Crawley becomes the starting point for this historic adventure, where travelers would have gathered before setting off towards Brighton a hundred years ago. "The George" at Crawley stands as a testament to the town's rich history. Dating back to c1788 and captured in an image from 1888 by an unknown creator, it evokes memories of a bygone era when bustling carriages filled its courtyard. Fast forward to June 4, 2006, and we find ourselves at Hawth in Crawley once again. Roy Babbington takes center stage with his musical talents while Brian O'Connor captures the essence of this performance through his lens. Lea DeLaria joins him in April 2009, followed by Marlene VerPlanck on that same day. The music continues to resonate within these walls as Christine Tobin graces Hawth with her presence in October 2010. The vibrant sounds echo through time and bring joy to all who listen. But it's not just renowned musicians who leave their mark here; local talent also shines bright. Lionel Phillippe performs with The Gogoville Blues Stars at Crawley Blues Club on October 18th, 2019. Mark Pappenheim and Paul Cowley join him on stage that same night – a celebration of homegrown blues music. Crawley Blues Club has become synonymous with great performances throughout the years. On September 28th, 2019, Mark Flanagan captivates audiences with his soulful melodies while Dirk Maggs enchants them on June 15th of the same year. Adam Pyke adds his own flair during that memorable evening too.
