Step aboard the Red Star Line's Finland as it sets sail for Stockholm in July 1912. This historic photograph captures a momentous occasion - the departure of the US Olympic team bound for the Summer Games, where they would compete against athletes from around the world.
The Finnish liner is adorned with flags and streamers, while its passengers - some dressed to impress in their finest attire - wave goodbye as they embark on their transatlantic journey. Note the stylish straw boaters worn by several of these Olympian gentlemen, a fashion statement that was all the rage at the time.
