In this diverse collection of artworks, the theme of "portly" takes center stage. From a drunk monk stumbling through the streets to an old English cricket match, these images capture moments that showcase the charm and humor of portliness. The first image transports us back to Old English Sports and Games: Cricket in 1901. A group of players, including a portly gentleman, engage in a lively game on a sunny day. The vibrant colors bring out their enthusiasm as they swing their bats with gusto. Moving on to Le Cuisinier, we find ourselves in a bustling kitchen where a chef prepares mouthwatering dishes. Despite his rotund figure, he moves with grace and precision as he adds spices to his culinary masterpiece. His expertise is evident even though his apron strains against his ample belly. Next up is The Bachelors Birthday, where laughter fills the air as friends gather around to celebrate another year for one lucky bachelor. Amongst them stands our portly protagonist who raises his glass high while indulging in merriment and good company. Santa Rings in Xmas brings us into the festive spirit as Santa Claus himself makes an appearance at Christmas time. With rosy cheeks and jolly demeanor, our beloved St. Nick embodies all things portly - from his round belly that shakes like jelly when he laughs to his hearty Ho-Ho-Ho. William Jones' portrait from 1740 captures the essence of elegance despite its subject's sizeable frame. Lord Lovat gazes confidently at us from behind piercing eyes while dressed impeccably in regal attire befitting his noble status. In contrasting scenes depicting everyday life, we witness both genders embracing their curves unabashedly. A young lad lends support to a struggling ice skater - a portly gentleman finding solace on slippery grounds; meanwhile, across town, a maid laces up her mistress's corset tightly but lovingly, accentuating her portly figure with grace and precision.
