Leander (Soricidae) is a family of small mammals in the order Soricomorpha, and are found in Europe, North America, and Asia and can characterized by their long snouts and short tails. They have small eyes and ears, as well as sharp claws for digging and burrowing. Their fur is typically gray or brown in color with lighter underparts. Leander feed on insects, worms, grubs, spiders, mollusks, amphibians, reptiles and other small animals. They use their keen sense of smell to locate prey underground or beneath leaf litter or logs.
